Dear Josephite,

I congratulate you and all the members of St. Joseph's family on the occasion of the launch of its official website. I am hopeful that this would serve as a tool to bridge all the Josephites, may they be Alumni or Alumnaein the capacity of students, staff or parents in any part of this world!

The purpose of this site is to give the parents, guardian, teachers, students, alumni and all concerned a concise source of information on our school; its vision, history, goals, rules, expectations, on-going activities, results etc. I hope it would act as a communication link between the school and home too.

The planting of St. Joseph's school at Baramulla in quite trying circumstances was the outcome of the silent and dedicated service of the Mill Hill Missionaries. The spirit of hard work and dedication coupled with long vision and selfless service stands even to this day as a stupendous contribution and an example set up by the Mill Hill Mission.

I've had the honour to head the institution on its 100th year (1905-2005)! The school is now upgraded to Higher Secondary. A school that can boast of having educated thousands of men and women and given them courage to live up to the ideals been taught to them. A school that had a very small beginning with eight orphan children grew to middle, high, higher, college... I amgrateful to all those principles, management and faculty who went before me, who did labour hard to form the Josephites to what they are today.

I recall to mind with a string of gratitude and appreciation the hard work of the Society of Jesus, the Capuchians, the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary and the Carmelite Missionaries. I remember gratefully Rev. Fr. A. J. Bijvoetand Fr. Jim Brost, the only remaining members in India, of the great pioneering fraternity of Mill Hill.

With the active participation and sincere involvement of the parents along with the faculty, D.V. the school will surely be able to carry out its mission and bring forth a brighter and more vibrant tomorrow in the days to come.

God bless.

Fr. Sebastian Kalappurayil

Principal
